A specialty pharmacy is a part of overall pharmacy — what makes it “special” is that it deals with chronic, hard-to-manage disease states and accompanying prescription drug treatments. Usually, these drugs are extremely expensive and many must be injected or infused by the patient. Manufacturers of these drugs frequently limit the number of pharmacies that can dispense them due to the need for strict care plans and reporting. A specialty pharmacy provides patients with a much higher level of contact and interaction with their caregivers, including pharmacists.
Giant Eagle has been a trusted name in pharmacy for over 30 years, and our Specialty Pharmacy continues the tradition of providing unparalleled, comprehensive, personalized clinical care to our patients with specialty medications. In addition, we offer the added value of choice and convenience when filling your prescriptions — you can choose to have them shipped to your home, work or physician’s office, or you can pick them up at one of our 200+ local Giant Eagle retail pharmacies.
We have care teams dedicated to servicing a wide range of specialty disease states, including Oncology, Arthritis, Hepatitis C, HIV, Multiple Sclerosis, Psoriasis, Crohn’s Disease, Cholesterol and Transplant. View our complete list of Therapeutic Areas.
